Habitat

It breeds on open, stony ground with meadows, often in grasslands, pastures, and stone-walled farmland. It nests in holes between stones, rabbit holes…. All populations winter in sub-Saharan Africa.

Description

The male in summer has grey dorsal parts, beige throat and wings and black eye mask. Female is brown above and buffy below with darker brown wings and no mask. Long legs. Both sexes have black and white tails, with an inverted “T” shaped pattern at the end of the tail which is best seen in flight. Tends to stay on the ground or on low perches.
