Habitat
Common in wooded terrain of all kinds, parks, gardens and hedgerows on farmland. They form mixed flocks in winter. Its diet is basically insectivorous, although in autumn it also incorporates various types of fruit into its diet.
Description
The largest of the pairs. It has a black stripe (wider in males) along its yellow chest. The dorsal area is greenish with a white wing stripe on the bluish-grey wings. Black head and throat with very white cheeks. Juveniles have a yellow colouration and overall duller plumage. Like many other similar birds, it has an abundant repertoire of songs, the most recognizable being a “chi-chi-pan” audible at long distances.
