Habitat

Characteristic inhabitant of open areas, it moves through sandy terrain, desert areas with scarce vegetation, stubble, fallow land and even rural roads. Frequent in the cultivated areas of the Riojan valleys. They nest on the ground.

Description

Medium-sized lark, non-migratory, with greyish-brown tones above, whitish below, and with a long, pointed crest. The underside of the wings is reddish in colour, visible in flight. Its facial design stands out with a very marked striation. The beak is long with a straight lower jaw. Short tail and long and straight posterior nail.
