Habitat

It occupies a wide variety of environments, common in wooded and semi-open habitats, parks, even in urban areas.

Description

Very large pigeon, greyish in colour, with a prominent pink breast and a prominent white spot on the sides of the neck. The courtship flight is typical, and consists of constant wingbeats going up and then gliding down; it is in flight where the white transverse band on the upper part of the wing is best observed.
