Habitat

Very versatile species in terms of habitat. Present during the summer season in various areas of the Ebro Valley, it winters in tropical Africa. During the breeding season it usually perches in open and exposed places.

Description

Slender figure, medium size, with pointed wings, long round tail. Bluish-grey colour on the back, head and chest, very marked edge with a white belly finely barred with dark. When the bird is perched, it often drops its wings and raises its tail. Very characteristic and familiar call, a disyllabic song with emphasis on the 1st syllable “cuu-cu”. It parasitizes the nests of other birds, laying its eggs in other birds' nests so that other birds can raise their offspring.
