Description

Medium-sized bird of prey, similar in size and shape to the Buzzard, although with broader wings and one more “finger” (6 instead of 5), a more direct, faster flight and longer glides. It presents 2 colour phases: the light phase with black and white tones that contrast and are very well distinguished, and the dark phase with the lower part of the body dark brown. It has feathers on its legs (stockings) that stand out when it perches. In flight, white spots on their shoulders called "landing lights" are usually seen, but they are not exclusive to this species.
