Habitat

Terrestrial habits, it breeds in open terrain with trees and scattered rocks, thickets, bushes, dry grasslands or on rocky slopes. It feeds mainly on insects.

Description

Small and thin wheatear, the males are very striking where the wings and black mask contrast with the yellowish back and crown (whiter in summer), the ventral area is whitish. The females are similar to the males, although with a more brownish colour. It has two phases of colouration in the throat and can be white or black. Like all wheatears, it has a characteristic black and white pattern on its tail with an inverted black “T” on a white background.
