Habitat

It breeds colonially in swampy areas, reedbeds of rivers, lagoons or ponds and in the groves adjacent to these. Species with very few sightings in our area, being the prenuptial passage the time with the most sightings.

Description

Small-medium sized brownish heron with white wings and tail, and a dark striped crown whose rear feathers hang over the back of the neck. The breeding adult has a yellowish-orange neck while the non-breeding juveniles have it streaked. Its beak is bluish, with a black tip.
