Habitat

It breeds in different places of fresh water or in coastal areas. It comes from spending the winter in Africa and although it is usually observed every year, few individuals are detected passing through our community during their migratory journey.

Description

Medium-large sized raptor, with narrow and long wings with a “4-fingered” hand, short and quadrangular tail. Dark brown upperparts and white underparts with a dark band on the wings and a black mask on the sides of the head. It is often seen hovering high in the air and swooping down in search of prey.
