Habitat
It is the most common duck. It breeds in parks, eutrophic lakes, canals, coasts, forest marshes. Accepts small areas with water. Resident in a great part of Europe except for the North and East where it avoids ice in winter.
Description
Big and robust. Orange legs. Large head and bill, short tail. It differs by size, shape and having a dark blue eyeglass bordered with white. The males, during the breeding season, have a metallic green head, narrow white collar, black stern and the rest of the body is largely pale grey. Females, on the other hand, have a more uniform brown colour, darker crown and eye list with pale eyebrow, and whitish sides of the tail.
