Habitat
It breeds in inland waters with dense vegetation margins, during the rest of the year it occupies many aquatic areas such as lakes, reservoirs or small ponds. It is usually discreet and remains hidden among the vegetation.
Description
This diver with a short neck, rounded body and “dishevelled” tail is the smallest grebe we can see. Very small and straight beak. It has a pale yellow spot more prominent in the breeding season, ochre brown neck and cheeks that turn chestnut during the breeding period.
