Habitat

Common in a wide variety of wetlands, lakes, rivers, and estuaries (almost anywhere small fish are found). Nests in colonies in dense trees and bushes, lakes, shallow and marshy rivers, and coastal ponds. They prefer open places to sites with very dense vegetation cover.

Description

Medium sized ardeido. Snowy white heron, with a long, straight, dark beak. Black legs and bright yellow toes. The adult in breeding plumage has two fine, long feathers on its head.
