Habitat
It breeds in colonies on the banks of rivers and ponds; it prefers well-preserved riverbanks and wetlands with abundant marshy vegetation. They sleep during the day, being more active in the twilight hours and at night.
Description
Ardeido of medium size, compact appearance with short beak and neck. Adults are greyish with a black cap and back. Yellow legs (red during breeding season) and red eyes. Two or three white feathers stand out, coming out of the nape of the reproductive specimens, being longer in males than in females.
